Like Scott, Joe's family was musically inclined. His grandmother would croon out 50's hits while his grandfather tickled the ivory organ keys.

His father played in several cover bands throughout the '70's including Magna 4 and 'Louisville'

In 8th grade the grunge era exploded and the musical bug hit Eric, Joe and several classmates. The lads knocked around in garages and basements for years, before some of them moved on to bigger and better things (My Morning Jacket).
